How It All Began
In 2010, we asked a simple question: why doesn’t Toronto have world-class student housing? We’d seen it done well elsewhere, in the UK, the U.S., Australia, and knew students here deserved the same. Six years of planning and team-building later, we broke ground on HOEM on Jarvis.

A student community should be a place where students feel safe to be themselves and where wellbeing is always a priority. Whether moving from across the city or across the world, HOEM is a space to connect and grow.
We Create Wonderful Communities
Everything we do is built around belonging. Decades of research proves that living in a student community leads to greater success academically and a more enjoyable student experience. Not to mention, it’s where many of us make lifelong friendships.
Our leadership team includes people who’ve spent their careers in student life, residence operations, hospitality, and academia. From move-in day onward, our focus is on helping every resident feel supported and able to thrive academically, socially, and personally.

At HOEM, we believe sustainability is about making better choices at every stage, from how our buildings are designed and operated to how we maintain them and help our residents live more sustainably.
Being Good Neighbours
We do our best to give back to the community we call home, supporting organizations and initiatives that help make our neighbourhoods stronger. We purchase local products and work with local companies as much as possible, and at the end of each semester we collect and donate reusable items to local charities.
